This is a touchy subject and many people do not believe the way I do. This is MY blog and I expect you to respect that and not post your hate under the guise of “opinions.” I will not tolerate unsolicited opinions, sorry.

I have had several people tell me they are praying for my complete healing. I’m not going to tell anyone how to pray and I do appreciate all prayers, believe me. However, this whole “God Wants You Healed” movement? I don’t buy it. Literally and figuratively. The problem is with the word “wants,” and with the publicity and showiness of these healers. You don’t need to buy a book or watch YouTube videos. You need to read the Bible. That’s not to say books are not useful or seeking advice isn’t helpful, but if you’re using them instead of the Bible therein lies the problem. Search the Bible and pray for wisdom.

I’ve tried to find specific verses in the Bible that say “God wants you healed,” and I’m coming up empty-handed. The only thing God wants in terms of healing is your spiritual healing. Your soul is infinitely more valuable and important than your body. So, I thought, what do I believe? I picked up my Bible to find out. I wanted to write it all out for my own sake if no one else’s. I used the Bible solely to outline my truths. I do link other articles at the end of this post, but I did not use them as sources.

These are the truths that I believe. There is no room for debate or discussion on these, they are my truths, in the same way I believe the sky is blue and the grass is green (and don’t get scientific on me about the color of the sky, okay? That’s not the point).

  • I believe God loves me and that He sent His son, Jesus, to die in our place so that we could be spiritually healed and have a relationship with Him and live with Him eternally in Heaven.

    1 John 4:16
    John 20:31
    John 1:12
  • I believe God has infinite wisdom that my finite brain can’t begin to fathom.
    Romans 11:33
    Psalm 147:5
    Isaiah 55:9
  • I believe God uses all things to bring glory to His name.
    Romans 8:28
  • I believe God wants me to trust Him in all things and to trust that He genuinely cares about me.
    Proverbs 3:5
    Jeremiah 17:7-8
    1 Peter 5:7
  • We live in a fallen world and we will only truly be completely physically healed in Heaven.

  • Being spiritually healed is what God wants for everyone.

That said, I would never put limitations on what God and what He, in his infinite power, can do.
Ephesians 3:20
Luke 1:37

So, do I believe God wants me healed? I believe He wants me to trust Him in all things, that He is using my circumstances for good and to further His kingdom and to bring me closer to Him. I believe God will use my chronic illnesses in some manner for good to help others.
Romans 15:13
2 Timothy 2:10
2 Corinthians 4:18
John 5:17
1 Timothy 4:8

There are times when I feel like giving up or I feel like God isn’t listening (I’m only an imperfect human!) but at the end of the day I believe God has a purpose for my illness (and not just for “character building”) and that I’m closer to Him because of it. I rely on His strength most when I’m feeling my worst physically. I don’t enjoy being sick, I pray all the time that God will take this away. I have bad days when I shake my fist at God because I hurt so much and am so limited in what I can do, but in my heart I keep trusting that God knows what He’s doing and my spiritual welfare is far more important than my physical. Again, that doesn’t mean I like it or that I don’t want to be well. I believe God has given us the tools to help treat our illnesses, but ultimate healing comes from God either through a miracle or through modern or natural medicine. However, after 10 years of trying to figure things out, doctors appointments, tests, etc; and “heal” myself, I’m far worse in my condition now than I was when I started. But I know I’m not being healed because of a lack of faith.

Things will never be perfect in this fallen world. Only when it is made new will we all be completely healed.
2 Peter 3:13
Revelation 21:4

My blog tagline is from Hebrews 6:19we have this hope as an anchor,” and if I didn’t have any hope of life after death I would most definitely sink. That’s what we’re supposed to focus on.

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans. – Psalm 118:8

If you do want to pray for me, you can pray in any capacity that you wish, I am not here to tell you how to pray or what to pray for. We serve a big God and he answers big prayers. I would like to ask, though, for you to add strength and perseverance to your prayers as well. I do appreciate prayers very, very much.

So, do I think God wants me healed? I believe He wants me to trust Him without knowing what’s ahead.
